Yep. Must be barkin mad. And I’m not even working… I declined of course.
Looking at the polls here about singaporean women and men, I guess it’s a Singaporean thing to just want the best of both worlds, being independent and dependent. Hahahaha… Ladies’ Night and equal rights; to whine like a woman and be called a man.
And from here:
Nature Environment News Vienna – Two teenagers on Saturday discovered a boa constrictor in a supermarket in the southern Austrian town Leibniz, and took the animal home with them, police said on Sunday. The two boys, aged 17 and 18, saw the animal between the merchandise in the shop, caught it and took it home to their terrarium to look after the snake, the Austrian Press Agency said. When checking with local police, the young snake-tamers were told that they could keep the snake, for the time being. A final decision will be made next week. The snake, a boa constrictor imperator, is not poisonous and on average reaches between 1.3 and 2.5 metres in length. Police are investigating how the snake ended up in a wintery Austrian supermarket but believe that the animal, may have been accidentally imported together with other merchandise.
Boa Constrictor – sounds familiar eh? Because it’s the one Harry (Potter) accidentally set loose on his cousin Dudly in book one, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (*whispered*)! Hahahaha… And I know it because I borrowed the books from Xiaoling to read (again)!!!
TALKING ABOUT HARRY POTTER, I was impulsed on Monday (by Ling no less, ok ok by MYSELF then) to get the Order of the Phoenix movie. It’s all your fault, Ian. If you had gotten the DVDs, I wouldn’t need to buy. But I bought the VCD cuz it’s cheaper. But it’s still your fault, Ian. I don’t care. Well, look at it this way, you got the first 3 movies already, so might as well complete the set! Bwahahaha… Buy lar, buy lar. Ling was suggesting we need to get together to marathon. Haven’t done that in ages. BUT can only do it if you buy lar, buy lar.
ANYWAYS, the main point is not that, but this: I realised why the movie wasn’t memorable – it was bad. BAD.
Siriusly Seriously.
Why? Let’s indulge ourselves.
1. Hermione had BAD acting. Sure, she’s a pretty face, no doubt about it, but her acting is starting to look fake. And her EYEBROWS. GOSH. Up, down, up, down ALL THE TIME. If you don’t believe me, she has been doing that since film 3. I understand if you wanna emphasize a point. But how many points are there in a sentence that you really wanna emphasize? I mean, look at the ending of film 4, when she said one simple line “Everything’s going to change now, isn’t it?”, her brows moved 3 times. 3 TIMES. 3 FREAKING TIMES. Enough already, Miss Eyebrows! WE GET IT.
And she kept doing the breathless thingy like she’s going to get an asthma attach anytime (no, there wasn’t ANY dementors around) and talking WAAAY too fast to catch what she’s trying to say. Relax lar, I know you’re trying to sound anxious but you don’t have to die doing it…
2. Script, script, script. My, my, my. I understand some of the changes made due to time restrains on the film, but some changes are REALLY BAD. I agree with most of the changes. But the exposition scenes are not always useful and most of the things aren’t explained well.
LIKE:
The ending where Dumbledore explains himself was so truncated. You don’t feel like there was a proper conclusion to movie 5.
Having all 6 kids hearing about the Prophesy. That was pretty bad. In the books, only Dumbledore, Harry knew at the end of book 5, though Hermione and Ron got to know at the start of book 6. And the death-eaters appeared just seconds after the Prophesy was said. How uncanny that they didn’t hear ANY of it. Right…
Hermione’s weird lines of exposition (and expression). When she said “It means the Ministry’s interfering at Hogwarts.”; asking suggesting staring at Harry (obviously) to be their real DADA teacher; telling Harry about the Order of the Phoenix part. Eeps!
The Order flying on broomsticks CLEARLY for all of London to see, just minutes after Harry was expelled for using magic (And I suspect it’s just pure promotion of London).
BTW, do anyone remembers if Dumbly-dore Dumbledore telling Harry to give in to Voldy? I remember such a line, but it’s not in the VCD leh. YES THERE IS SUCH A LINE!!! Albus Dumbledore: Don’t fight him Harry, you can’t win! Ha! I hated that part. Since when does Dumbledore ever ask someone to give up? Seriously? That is so un-Griffindor like! I bet more than anything they cut that line out from the DVD release because it was so bad, and so un-true to the books!
3. Luna Lovegood.
This is quite neutral actually. She has this slightly high-pitched, airy voice. Quite true to her character. Can get kinda irritating though. But because she gets one of the best lines in the movie, it balances out the weird voice I guess.
4. Ron. I don’t have a good memory of him because he played a very small part I guess. The film was such that his role wasn’t very big. Missed his presence.
5. Oh and if I wanna nick-pick, the picture behind the VCD is one that the 6 kids are on broomsticks. First off, only Harry was seen flying on his broom. Secondly, they flew to London on Thestrals. Arugh.
The GoodS!
1. A Toast to Harry. If you are going to buy the VCD or borrow it from me, first go to the straight to the second disc, at the time 04:37 to 04:40, do the A-B repeat function and you’ll hear 3 “Harry”s in a row. DAMN FUNNY. Was watching it in the dead of the night, and it was so difficult to laugh uncontrollably in silence. But that has to be the BEST part of the whole movie!
2. Dudly at the starting of the movie bulling Harry. A great start to a horrible movie. He looks psychotic there. Wahahahaha…
3. Pretty Ginny.
Absolutely adore that girl man! She grew up really great!
Especially the REDUCTO part! Can’t wait for her in movie 6!
4. Bellatrix Lestrange: I LOVE HER, MAN!!! The craziness was played to perfection by Helena Bonham Carter. It’s a really good piece of casting I must say.
5. A great looking kid, credited as Slightly Creepy Boy, with his line “If Potter could tell us more about how Diggory got killed…”. He’s in the DA. Let me find a picture of him!
Dumbledore’s Army!
The left-most one! Well, best of the lot, that is.
I just hope they don’t screw up film 6. It’s probably the most exciting book (though book 7 is still the best for exposition because everything is finally unravelled.)
Some Sneeks for film 6! Enjoy!

Cast Interviews.
Cast Interviews.

wait a minute, Ginny has BANGS in the cast interview?! No shit! I mean I didn’t watch the clip, but the still there shows a brunette next to Luna Lovegood as they’re being interviewed. Or was it my lentil-eyes playing tricks on me?
And to add to the Dumbledore part, actually I don’t like the ‘new’ actor who plays Dumbly-dore, he’s very … fierce leh. Dumbly seems like some very quiet/intelligent/subdued man, but then the actor (dunno his name) is all cold/fierce/forceful. So … WRONG!!
Yes, yes! That’s Ginny! That PRETTY girl!
She looks so different from Movie 5 lor.
Hmmm… Actually I prefer the new Dumbly verson 2.0 to the old one. I guess the 2 of them show different spectrum of the same character. But the old one looks and acts too benevolent all the time, whereas the new one is more hippie. I always thought Dumbly from the books was more of a hippie character.
Not that I didn’t like the older one, he did have the Dumbly stature, just that he seemed a tad too boring. I mean Dumbly does have a bro that owns a bar in Hogmead and he is gay afterall, so I always thought, you know, he’s not too perfect to be the quiet/intelligent/subdued man all the time.
Am I even making sense? Hahahahaha…
